The Home Base Iowa Designation allows employers to develop long-term recruiting strategies to hire, train, and retain Veterans in Iowa. Making the decision to hire Veterans for your business is not only an honorable thing to do - it's also a smart business decision that has paid off for hundreds of Iowa companies. Veterans have the knowledge, dedication, skillsets that are often needed in today’s workforce. Benefits include:

• Certificate of Designation: Provided to each HBI business to publicly promote their business as Veteran Ready.
• Marketing: Upon designation, your business will be highlighted on our IowaWORKS for Veterans social media page along with any current openings that you have.
• Dedicated Team: HBI employers will receive a dedicated LVER/HBI or Veteran career planner to assist with their ongoing employment needs/goals.
• DoW SkillBridge: HBI employers will receive guidance on becoming a DoW SkillBridge industry partner, a program that continues to expand across the state.
• Iowa Veterans Employer Coalition: HBI employers will receive an invitation to attend our quarterly Iowa Veterans Employer Coalition meetings, which will provide strategies and resources that your business can utilize to attract and retain Veterans.
• Hiring Events: HBI employers will receive priority to attend Veteran hiring events throughout the year; additionally, Home Base Iowa will promote your company and its openings at in-state and out-of-state Veteran and service member hiring events.
• Quarterly contact: Home Base Iowa employers will receive, at minimum, quarterly contact for their business needs and outreach.

How to Begin

Becoming a Home Base Iowa Employer is easy and can be done by taking the following steps:

1. Enroll: Create a recruiting account at the IowaWORKSforVeterans portal
2. Onboard: Attend one of our upcoming classes for Home Base Iowa Business Onboarding (Register via Zoom)
3. Join and Become Recognized: Once you've completed all the requirements, you'll Become a Home Base Iowa Employer and receive all the benefits to recruiting

Posting Jobs and Finding Veteran Candidates

Employers can also use their accounts in the IowaWORKS system – the largest jobs bank in Iowa – to post open positions and promote them to thousands of qualified candidates. IowaWORKS is connected to the IowaWORKS for Veterans portal, which ensures your openings are viewable by all Veterans and spouses looking for jobs.

Businesses can search resumes at any time by location, primary industry, and profile information, and can set up resume alerts through the Virtual Recruiter tool.
