Education plays an important role in Iowa’s success as a place to live and work – but our state’s educational organizations can’t function well if they can’t find the necessary staff. Iowa offers a number of resources to help education organizations fill vacant jobs and help individuals find career opportunities in the field – from teachers to bus drivers and everything in between. One central resource for both of these needs is IowaWORKS.gov, the state’s largest jobs bank and resource for finding new career paths.

  • Per Iowa Code 84A.6, the legislature since 2023 has required that Iowa schools and education organizations post any vacant positions on IowaWORKS.gov.
  • In addition, the Iowa Department of Education has announced that the TeachIowa platform will also be available in the fall of 2024 as a second option for posting and applying for education jobs in Iowa.

On IowaWORKS.gov, organizations posting their jobs can review potential applicants and use the system to pair them with their openings. Job applicants can learn how to post their resume and search for vacant positions using the system's Virtual Recruiter. More information on available one-on-one assistance is below.

The Iowa Department of Education has announced that the TeachIowa platform will also be available in the fall of 2024 as a second option for posting and applying for education jobs. TeachIowa is a nationally accessible job board that provides education organizations with a pool of potential candidate resumes and applicant information. For more information on the launch of TeachIowa this fall, contact the Iowa Department of Education or visit the agency’s Education Jobs webpage for updated information.
