Iowa Workforce Development (Department) distributes federal funds from the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) through a competitive grant opportunity. These grants are to provide adult education and literacy programs, activities and services, including programs providing activities concurrently, which will improve adult education and literacy in Iowa. Proposals for funding are administered through IowaGrants.gov.

Now Available: FY 2026 AEFLA Grant Opportunity (Applications Due April 21, 2025)

Effective March 5, 2025, a new AEFLA competitive grant opportunity is now available to help advance Adult Education and Literacy Services across the state. The opportunity is seeking service providers for the Iowa Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program for a period from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.
