Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services and the Iowa Department for the Blind are proud to be a part of this year's National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation declaring Iowa’s participation at the state level to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year's theme is "Disability: Part of the Equity Equation."
Reflecting this year's theme, throughout the month, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) will be engaging in a variety of activities to educate its members on disability employment issues and its commitment to an inclusive work culture.
On Monday, October 24 IVRS will join with Iowa Works for a virtual NDEAM Event “Creating an Inclusive Workplace” at 2 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Hannah Soyer, a writer who will address access in the workplace and disability justice. A business panel will then discuss best practices and implementation of disability hiring initiatives.
