As part of its commitment to growing Registered Apprenticeship (RA) across industries, Iowa provides annual RA program funding through the Iowa Apprenticeship Act (84E).
These competitive grants are available annually to support training or ongoing costs within any active Iowa Registered Apprenticeship program. A qualified apprenticeship program must be registered with the DOL/OA and the program must provide a minimum of 100 in-person contact hours to qualify for funding.

2026 Awards
On April 27, 2026, Iowa announced $3.25 million in new Registered Apprenticeship grants to help advance future careers across the state. The awards included $2.94 million in new 84E grants to 58 sponsors who are supporting 4,258 participating apprentices.
