As part of its commitment to growing Registered Apprenticeship (RA) across industries, Iowa provides annual RA program funding through the Iowa Registered Apprenticeship Development Program (84F).
These competitive grants are available annually for sponsors that create a new RA program with an eligible high-demand occupation, or for sponsors who add an eligible high-demand occupation to their existing program.

Summary: Iowa Registered Apprenticeship Development Fund (84F)
The Iowa Registered Apprenticeship Development Fund (84F) provides financial assistance to apprenticeship sponsors who start or expand new registered apprenticeship programs with 20 or fewer apprentices in eligible high-demand occupations.
These competitive grants support a newly created RA program with an eligible high-demand occupation by helping with ongoing program costs, fees, or related expenses.
Total funding available: $760,000 (Annual State Fund Appropriation)
Awarded funds: Given as a one-time reimbursement of expenses incurred in establishing a registered apprenticeship program, up to a maximum of $25,000.
84F is open to sponsors who have:
Have a registered apprenticeship program that meets IOA specific requirements and standards to be eligible to apply.
Have 20 or less registered apprentices in RAPIDS.
70% of apprentices participating must reside in Iowa; the remainder must reside in states contiguous to Iowa.
Occupations that must be considered “high-demand” by Iowa State Workforce Development Board and community colleges in consultation with the IOA.
