Authorization Guidelines

When you are giving authorization, follow the guidance listed below:

  • Dates of service need to be accurate and realistic.
  • For multiple work sites, the total hours of authorization should not exceed initial maximum allowable units. Supervisory approval is needed to authorize for more time.
  • Menu of Services should be authorized:
    • One Service at a time (except when paying a training wage in addition to the service or by supervisor approval),
    • Up to 4 months at a time, and
    • Not always the maximum dollar amount allowed for the service (determined by the team).
