Description

Founded in 1846, Clarke County was named after James Clarke, a governor of the Iowa Territory. Osceola is known for its Independence Day Celebration which consists of a week of entertainment around the town square with rides, food vendors, live music, contests and games. Every year, there is a lighted holiday parade. Looking to stay in shape? Feel free to visit the local pool, soccer fields and Becky Persels Skate Park. A few entertainment items include the annual county fair, county speedway, free concerts and one of the Midwest's largest resorts, Lakeside Casino. As a Home Base Community, Clarke County has a strong commitment to veteran job placement, health care and education.
