Cities: About Home Base Iowa Cities

Description

Founded in 1851, Greene County was named after General Nathanael Greene, a hero in the Revolutionary War. Greene County is an area filled with hometown charm, remarkable attractions, performing arts, unique shopping, great restaurants, lodging and more. Visit the Mahanay Memorial Bell Tower, a 168-foot glass elevator ride to a breathtaking view or visit Deal's Orchard and its 45 acres of family fun learning about the apple-cider process. Try out the Wild Rose Casino and Resort or check out Memorial Park, which holds a War Memorial Tank donated by the Army as a memorial to all land wars. Greene County was the first Home Base Community to be designated and has had a strong commitment to veteran job placement, health care and education.
