Founded in 1837, Humboldt County was named after William Harris Crawford, a U.S. Senator from Georgia. Nestled between the east and west forks of the Des Moines River, Humboldt offers a family aquatic center, hometown theater, harness racing and golfing. Humboldt County is also home to 17 area parks including the Frank A. Gotch County Park, named after the world-champion wrestler from Humboldt. As a Home Base Community since March 2015, Humboldt County has a strong commitment to veteran job placement, health care and education.
