Description

Founded in 1843, Iowa County was named after the Iowa River. Iowa County is home to the Amana Colonies, seven villages built by German Pietists who were persecuted in their homeland by the German state government. The Seven Villages of Amana, a tourist attraction known for its restaurants and craft shops, has been listed as a National Historic Landmark since 1965. Available in Iowa County is parks, golf courses, hospitals, museums, art galleries, schools, churches and lots of entertainment.
