Description

Founded in 1846, Jasper County was named after Sergeant William Jasper, a Revolutionary War hero. Residents enjoy watching races at the Iowa Speedway or a movie at a drive-in theater near Newton. Train land U.S.A. is near Colfax and provides interactive activities for families. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge located in Jasper County near Prairie City. Jasper County is a very Veteran Friendly community with easy access to healthcare in Knoxville, Marshalltown or Des Moines, IA. We have a Veterans Service office in the county Annex Building that is normally kept open 5 days a week from 8 till 4 (Appointments preferred) to assist all veterans in application for the benefits they deserve.
