Description

Founded in 1836, Lee County is said to have been named in honor of Robert E. Lee or Albert Lea. Old Fort Madison is the oldest American military garrison on the upper Mississippi River and is open for tours. The city also contains the largest double-decker swing span bridge in the world. Unique to the city of Montrose, Iowa is the annual Watermelon Festival occurring every August with all you can eat watermelon.
