Description

Located on the eastern side of Iowa, Louisa County is bordered by the Mississippi and includes a wildlife refuge and more than 15,000 acres of parks and natural areas including the confluence of the Iowa and Cedar rivers. Famous for natural resources, this is a place to enjoy hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, and paddling. Our 9 small communities are filled with a diverse population bringing together Hispanic, Asian, Welsh and other cultures. Louisa County takes pride in its safe and welcoming communities and intimate school districts but is still just a short drive from larger metro areas.
