Description

Founded in 1851, Lyon County was named after Nathaniel Lyon, a general during the Mexican-American War and the Civil War. George provides a place to study history and enjoy the George Bicentennial Museum and George Campgrounds. The Blood Run National Historic Landmark contains burial mounds and village sites from historic tribes and is located in Rock Rapids. As a Home Base Community, Lyon County has a strong commitment to veteran job placement, health care and education.
